PERSONAL BACKGROUND
He graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration in 1967.
Upon graduation, Larry entered the United States Navy as an ensign. His tours of duty took him to the eastern part of the United States, South America, India and the Middle East. He was honorably discharged from active duty in 1969 at the rank of lieutenant.
Larry returned to school and earned his Masters of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University at Los Angeles in 1972.
His personal interests include golf, traveling and krav maga.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Larry began his professional career with the international accounting firm of S.D. Leidesdorf & Co. in 1971. Upon moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 1975, he became the tax manager for Segal, Cohen and Company. In 1978, Larry became a shareholder in Cohen, Moffitt, Chambers, Mindlin & Co.
In 1982, Larry became a partner in the international accounting firm of Laventhol & Horwath. In 1986, he formed Larry Moffitt, P.C. In 1991, the company merged with Stanley Moffitt, C.P.A. to form Moffitt & Company, P.C.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Larry has practiced accounting for over 34 years, specializing in business, tax, and financial planning for small and medium sized companies. His clientele is world-wide.
Although most of his clients reside in the Phoenix metropolitan area, he represents companies operating in 22 states, as well as the United States operations of Canadian, British, Thai, Israeli and Australian companies.
His industries of specialization include the restaurant and hospitality industry; construction; real estate; medical, dental, and legal services; oil and gas exploration; wholesaling and retailing.
He was a faculty member of Rio Salado Community College teaching courses in tax planning and financial accounting.
He has given lectures and seminars on various topics for the Phoenix Tax Workshop, Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants, Idaho Society of Certified Public Accountants, and Laventhol & Horwath training programs.
CIVIC, CHARITABLE AND BUSINESS ACTIVITIES
Larry is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Larry has served on the board of directors of the following organizations:
- North Phoenix Chamber of Commerce (President in 1993)
- Phoenix Sunrise Rotary Club Community Relations Council of The Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix Hillel at ASU
- He served as a consultant with the Small Business Center of Rio Salado College which provided free consulting on a myriad of topics to small businesses who need but cannot afford professional services.
- Larry has served on budget and appropriation committees of various religious organizations and non-profit organizations.
